What led you to possess your current beliefs in regards to politics?

I don't even know. I just know I used to be a republican at least until I was 18. I guess sometime after that I stopped being a fuckwit and thinking that all ideal solutions are simple and the government should be as small as possible. Maybe I realized also that most of my oppression was in my own mind, so Big Government wasn't responsible for it. It's just the scapegoat.

Now I'm a liberal democrat or maybe even a socialist, I'm not sure if that came before or after I realized that corporations are pure evil and whatever the government doesn't take care of in society, corporations will. The government obviously isn't perfect, and corruption exists, but it doesn't outright, *by design* do whatever it can at whoever else's expense just to increase the bottom line. Rather, it's run by the people and for the people (at its best, while a company is self-serving at its best). Basically the difference is that the incomes of the higher ups aren't directly tied to their decisions, so it should be a much better agent to effect the will of the populace. They get the salary they get, and thus their decisions are then free to be made for the well-being of everyone. If it cost nothing to you to heal a homeless man, wouldn't you do it?

I guess that turned more into a general explanation of why democratism is better than republicanism because I don't really remember much.. sry =p

I also realized at some point that gays aren't doing anything wrong (maybe it helped that I apostatized from Christianity at around 17-18), because they're not hurting anybody, men just find them disgusting because they would think it disgusting for *them* to engage in homosexual activities. And maybe even that, for them, it would be a form of corruption to give into it just for some kind of physical pleasure, so they think it must be immoral / corrupt for *others* to do it too, but that's not the case, they're wired differently.

Perhaps I also realized at some point that homeless people aren't just lazy, that's simplistic and naive. Not everyone is cut out for the workforce, it's like a stampede of bulls, it only takes care of the mainstream and is ruthless to anyone who doesn't fit into the mold. Probably most homeless people have some serious psychological issue (some of them have serious physical issues too), and for some reason they were unable to collect welfare or disability.

If I could think of more staple arguing points between republicans and democrats I'd probably make this much longer, but fortunately I can't atm.
